A View to a Kill [James Bond Girls]

A View to a Kill

007 returns from the USSR with a new computer chip; one that is invulnerable to the magnetic pulse of a nuclear explosion. The chip is being manufactured by Zorin Industries, headed up by a sociopathic businessman named Max Zorin who is planning to corner the world microchip market by using explosives to cause an earthquake in the San Andreas fault that will wipe out Silicon Valley - and the millions who live and work there! Bond must face not only Zorin himself, but the equally twisted May Day and Scarpine, another one of Zorin's henchmen. Assisted by San Francisco City employee Stacy, Bond goes after the would-be computer magnate in a series of frightening confrontations - including fire in the SF City Hall, a wild chase through the city with Stacy at the wheel of a fire department ladder truck, and finally in a hand-to-hand fight atop San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge

Short bio from
ImbD

Born in Ireland in 1966, Alison Doody is the daughter of Patrick, a real estate investor, and Joan, a beautician. Educated in a convent, she was raised in a down-to-earth,loving family. She was introduced to the world of fashion very early on, her glossies having caught the attention of many photographers. Later, she studied the Fine Arts in college, but ultimately became weary of it and decided to quit. She moved on, did some modeling, and then tried some TV commercial work. One day, an Irish director caught hold of her profile and suggested her to try acting instead. Refered to an acting agent in London, Alison kissed her family goodbye and moved to England at age 19 with the ambition of becoming an actress, despite the lack of formal film experience. In no time, she landed her first role: a baddie in the Bond film A View to a Kill (1985). A few years later, after shooting a handful of Irish dramas, she broke in the movie industry big time when she was cast as Aryan seductress "Dr. Elsa Schneider", the female lead of the third Indiana Jones movie. After the Indiana Jones roller-coaster, which made a star of Alison, she played in a few more movies and did some publicity for L'Oréal in the United States. In 1994, she retired from movies and went back to Ireland where she married Gavin O'Reilly, a media tycoon and heir to Ireland's biggest fortune. Together, they had two children. In 2002, Alison finally came out of retirement when she appeared in the English comedy The Actors (2003) with Michael Caine. There, she realized how much she missed acting, although she never regretted quitting movies to take care of her family. Now that her children are older and that she has more time for herself, Alison has decided to give another chance to her acting career and is slowly coming back to movies. She shot a remake of King Solomon's Mines (2004) (TV) in 2004, with Patrick Swayze, and played a Nazi cow again for Benjamin's Struggle (2005) in 2005. Recently divorced and, although her top priority remains her two daughters for the time being, Alison is more than ever planning on a big screen comeback.

Tanya Roberts came from modest beginnings in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of a pen salesman (Irish) and a mother (Jewish) who were divorced before she reached high school. Tanya dropped out of high school at age 15, got married and hitchhiked around the country until her mother-in-law had the marriage annulled. She met psychology student Barry Roberts in New York while waiting in line to see a movie. A few months later she proposed to him in a subway station, and they were married. She studied acting under Lee Strasberg and Uta Hagen. In her early years in New York she supported herself as an Arthur Murray dance instructor and by modeling. She appeared in off-Broadway productions of "Picnic" and "Antigone" and in television commercials for Ultra Brite, Clairol and Cool Ray sunglasses. In 1977 Tanya and her husband--now a scriptwriter--moved to Hollywood. She began appearing in such made-for-TV films as Pleasure Cove (1979) (TV), Zuma Beach (1978) (TV) and Waikiki (1980) (TV). Her film debut was in Forced Entry (1975). After appearing in several minor films, her first big break came when she was selected as an angel (the last) for "Charlie's Angels" (1976) in its final season, and was featured on the cover of "People" magazine (2/9/81). The attention she garnered as the newest Charlie's Angel helped secure her most significant film parts: The Beastmaster (1982) (and posed for the cover and an inside spread in "Playboy" to promote the film), the title role in Sheena (1984) and as a "Bond" girl in A View to a Kill (1985). She continues to appear in films, though mainly direct-to-video and direct-to-cable features. She is featured in the CD computer game The Pandora Directive (1996) (VG) and had a recurring lead role in the TV series "That '70s Show" (1998).
